As I said earlier this week, I'm really focused on preparing for summer reading at the moment, and I'm definitely eager to read some romances this summer. (I might be on the lookout for a few thrillers as well, but we'll have to see how things go with that.) I looked back at our book reviews and found several romances that I would like to read this summer. Click on the title to see the full review.
Mercedes Helnwein's SLINGSHOT - Not Your Average YA Rom-Com (Jen's review)
(Bookshop.org | Libro.fm)
"Despite its bright and cheery cover, Mercedes Helnwein’s Slingshot is not a sweet YA rom-com. From page one, it defied my expectations. I absolutely loved it.
"Grace Welles is fifteen and miserable. She attends an undistinguished boarding school paid for by her father—Grace and her mom are his second family; his wife and daughters have no idea that Grace and her mom exist. So, this special education is his way of assuaging some guilt." Click to read the full review.

"I missed out on Emma Lord’s first book, Tweet Cute, but I’m definitely going to read it now. I could not have loved this second book, You Have a Match, more. It is such a brilliant YA read, dealing with friendships and romance and parental expectations and grief and identity, all wrapped up in a brilliant narrative that I found myself unable to put down.
"As a sign of support, Abby agrees to sign up for a DNA test with her best friend Leo. Leo and his sister were adopted from the Philippines when they were tiny, and he has questions about his biological parents and his heritage. Abby expects that she will be there for Leo in case he discovers something unexpected. What she DOESN’T expect is that she’ll have her own discovery . . . she has a sister." Katharine McGee's MAJESTY - A Worthy Sequel (Jen's review)
(Bookshop.org | Libro.fm)
"After we talked about American Royals on the Unabridged Podcast (check out the episode here!), I hoped for a second book that would offer some surprises...
"While I won’t give away any details here, I’ll just say that I was pleased with the way that McGee developed her story. She allowed some characters to grow and change and find that they could love someone new, while other characters end up staying true to their original goals." Sarah Morgenthaler's THE TOURIST ATTRACTION - A Sweet Romance to Brighten Your Day (Ashley's review)
(Bookshop.org | Libro.fm)
"This sweet contemporary romance, which came out on Tuesday, was such an easy, happy read. I loved it! The book opens with super-grumpy restaurant owner Graham begrudgingly serving tourists in his restaurant, The Tourist Trap. In wanders Zoey, who has saved for years to finally take a vacation to Moose Springs, Alaska, with her wealthy friend Lana. Immediately, she catches Graham's attention because she seems different from most of the tourists who descend upon the town. Click to read the full review.
Book Review of Mariana Zapata's Super-Slow Burn Romances (Jen's review of four Zapata books)
"From Jen: So, I know that typically, we choose a single book to review on Fridays, but instead, I want to share FOUR books by one of my favorite new-to-me authors. Mariana Zapata writes super-slow burn romances. These are long books—the shortest here is just under 500 pages—which makes for plenty of space to develop characters and relationships."
